6 Easy Ways to Keep a Dog Busy

Working from home is a challenge enough without having  your furry friend eating the carpet and barking at the your home deliveries making it even more of a challenge. These 6 inexpensive and easy to set up activities for your dog not only keep them out of trouble but you'll find that they lower anxiety, increase happiness and tire-out your pooch.

Frozen Veggies

Stick a carrot or some strawberries in the freezer and watch them chase it around with joy. Not only is this fun for your dog but it’s nutritious and not expensive. Always make sure you check that what you’re freezing dog friendly! 

Licky Mat

Make the most of mealtimes and spread your dog’s wet food onto a lick mat. Alternatively you could use a peanut butter (without sweeteners) or cream cheese as a treat. 

Play Bones

Ask your local butcher for bones. As long as the bones are raw, they are a perfect toy for your dog. Chewing natural items increases serotonin levels, making a happy dog. Freeze them for extra stimulation! 

Tea Towel Snuffle

Create your own puzzle toy by wrapping up a old towel, first roll it into a sausage with treats or kibble in the rolls and then tie the sausage in a knot. This gentle exercise is perfect for sent hounds but you’ll find most dogs enjoy the challenge. 

World Watching

Take that work call from outside and let your dog enjoy a sensory change of scene. Even if you don’t have a garden, you can sit on the porch and watch the world go by.  This is particularly useful for working breeds as it uses up mental energy. 

Garden Playdates

Ask a neighbour or friend to bring their dog around to play. You guys can get on with work while they keep each other busy.
