A canine behaviourist assesses and modifies unwanted behaviours in dogs, such as reactivity, anxiety, excessive barking, or aggression. I use science-based, force-free methods to help dogs and their owners build confidence and communication.
If your dog shows signs of stress, fear, reactivity, or aggression, or if you're struggling with training despite trying different techniques, a behaviourist can help. Some common issues I work with include resource guarding, separation anxiety, and fear-based reactivity.
A dog trainer focuses on obedience and teaching commands, while a canine behaviourist works on underlying emotional and behavioural issues. If your dog is reactive, anxious, or has a complex behavioural problem, a behaviourist is the better choice.
Yes, I work with dogs who display aggression, but safety is my top priority. Before a consultation, I assess the risk level through a detailed questionnaire. If a dog has a history of biting, I may recommend muzzle training alongside behaviour modification.
Many pet insurance policies cover behavioural consultations if they are recommended by a vet.
I advise checking with your insurer to see if behavioural support is included in your policy.
I can provide invoices for reimbursement and vet referral forms if required. If you have any questions about this, please do get in touch with me.
Every dog is different. Some minor issues improve in a few weeks, while more complex behaviours (such as anxiety or reactivity) take months of consistent work.
I provide tailored plans to support long-term progress but if you'd like more information on what a timeline might look like for your dog, please do reach out to me directly.
Behavioural consultations are charged at an hourly rate of £85, which includes a detailed assessment, a tailored behaviour plan, and follow-up support. When booking, you'll be asked to pay a £75 deposit, which will be deducted from your final bill.
Consultations typically take 2-3 hours, depending on the severity of the issue. You will only be charged for my in-person time, and follow-up consultations are charged at £50 per hour.

Before our session, you'll complete a pre-assessment form detailing your dog’s history and behavioural concerns. This ensures you get the most out of our time together. Consultations typically take place in your home, where your dog is most comfortable and relaxed.
During the consultation, I will:
✔ Observe your dog’s behaviour in their home environment.
✔ Discuss their history, triggers, and daily routine.
✔ Explain why the behaviour is happening.
✔ Provide practical, science-based strategies to help.
✔ Outline a tailored behaviour modification plan with step-by-step guidance.
Within 7 days of your consultation, you will receive a comprehensive Behavioural Modification Plan. This will include:
An analysis of your dog’s behaviour, environment, learning style, and past experiences.
A list of recommendations and training techniques you can implement to improve your dog's wellbeing and behaviour.
Upon delivery of the plan, you'll also receive an invoice for our time together. You’ll also benefit from ongoing support via phone or WhatsApp for up to 6 months after your consultation.
