Best for your Dog - Advent Calendars 2023

Ridiculous I know - an advent calendar for dogs! But what makes your pet better integrated into the family other than a shared experience? If you're on this train, come take a peak at some of my favourite Advent Calendars for dogs this year.

You won't find any hidden nasties in these treats and each has its own benefits  for your dog's mind, body and Christmas spirit.

When selecting any toy or treat it's always best to consider your dog's individual needs and preferences. Please take into consideration your dog's age, temperament, activity levels and dietary needs. If in doubt, contact a trained behaviourist or get in touch for some advice.

The Meaty One

I love JR Pet Products and I often recommend them to my clients. High protein treats are not only highly tasty but did you know that they actually release the 'happy hormone' in dogs. These are great for those with sensitive tummies as they are chicken and grain free.

Pure Ostrich Advent Calendar

The BIG One

Unprocessed foods are nutrient rich are easier for our fur-babies to digest. What I love about this big box is the selection of natural chews as well as treats. A natural chew raises endorphins and is the perfect way for your dog to unwind on the long winter nights.

Wolf Club Naturals ‘Yappy Howlidays’ Advent Calendar

£24.99

The Fishy One

This calendar from Skipper's will certainly float the boat of fishy fans. High in Omega-3 which lowers anxiety in dogs and supports healthy coats, it's also a great low fat option for the pooches who have to watch what they eat over the festive season.

Skipper's Fish Advent Calendar

£12.99

The Fancy One

If you're looking for something a little more sophisticated than an air-dried bit of cow, Natural Treats' sausages are a delicious and nutritious alternative. With Cranberries and sweet potato, their great for sensitive teeth and tummies.

Natural Treats Gourmet Sausage Advent Calendar

£13.83

These are my recommendations based on pre-packaged advent calendars, however you can always make your own and fill it with your dog's favourite treats or toys which is not only better on the purse but better for the environment too. What you feed your dog and how you guide them to spend their time has a major influence on their happiness and behaviour. There is a huge selection of poor quality treats, chews and toys in the mass market. I would suggest that no matter what you give your dog this festive season, read the ingredients, avoid anything that is highly processed and throw away anything that may cause them more harm than good.
